I am a licensed professional counselor with experience in community mental health, higher education, and outpatient mental health. I have extensive experience working with youth, young adults, and families. I believe that healing happens in relationships, and I know how powerful a good, supportive presence can be when working through a hard time in life. I strive to help my clients learn about themselves and find their strengths in a supportive and safe environment.
My approach to treatment is relational and trauma-informed. My training in trauma-informed care and Dialectical Behavioral Therapy lay the foundation for my belief that healing happens within positive, healthy, and empowering relationships. I take a person-centered and relational approach to treatment, focusing on safety and trust as the foundation. I use my knowledge of Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Dialectical Behavioral Therapy, and Motivational Interviewing to teach skills and increase insight to address client's concerns, helping them to develop their own plan for change.
Some of my specialties/areas of interest include anxiety and trauma-related disorders, depression, life transitions, educational and occupational challenges, self-esteem, and family stress.
